About the event
We are so excited to be back once again for our annual competition - it is going to be a great day, with lots of shredding!
Whether you have just started riding or are a seasoned pro, there is category for you - read below for full information on each category:
CATEGORY INFORMATION
Rookies – “Gotta start somewhere” - beginner level of riding including basic surface tricks and basic obstacle hits (first year of competition).
Judges wanna see: show us all the stuff you know how to do! We want to see ollie 180s, surface 360s and control if you’re hitting those kickers. Riding switch will definitely bag you those points and try to link it all together as fluently as you can!
Inters – “Things are heating up” – we’re talking spins on rails, holding some boardslides and locking in those grabbed 180s on the kickers. In the inters you are permitted to do one basic spin greater than a 180 (frontside 360 is a classic) OR a basic invert, but NO airtricks.
Judges wanna see: Control and variety is super important here. We are still looking at basic tricks and we want to see them executed beautifully. Trying to ollie over the safeties of the rails and squeezing in some lipslides and tight grabs is going to help you out!
Open – “top dawgies” – Air tricks, inverts, 540s, nose grab 1440s, presses, and spinning onto and off of those rails… anything goes here… even corner tricks…
Judges wanna see: In the open categories things are getting more competitive and on a small cable every trick counts. Creative use of the course is key and technicality and style have got to work hand in hand to leave a lasting impression on the judges.
Masters- All of the above just more graceful!
Judges wanna see: You showing the young ones how its done
Wake skate - Ollies, shuv it's, rail hits, big spins... we will take the lot!
Judges wanna see: Anything that you can offer
OVERALL JUDGING
Each run will be judged relative to the other runs within the same category. Each run will be reviewed by its overall impression while considering four key aspects equally:
Difficulty – How technical were the tricks performed in the run?
Variety – Regular, Switch, Toeside, Heelside, Frontside, Backside… Use of the park is key…
Style – There’s lots of different styles and how a trick looks is important
Control / Execution– Tricks should be in control, and riders should flow through the park with good composition (if you land a trick switch, ride into the next trick switch… We will notice).
All participants in the Scottish Wake Series must either be full WWS and BWSW members or an e-member (free) of WWS.
